Series of Circumstance: How the F*** did we get here?
Saturday May 31, 2025
SoC kicks off with a one-night-only performance presenting works meant for screen, stage and the page at the historic Santa Monica Playhouse. Come to share your creativity or simply soak it in. Series of Circumstance is designed to spark something - laughter, tears, or you know, whatever.
Join emerging writers, directors, and actors as we connect, build community and bring bold work to life in a recurring night of short-form theater.
SoC makes it simple. With a black box stripped away presentation it is simply about the work.
Every form of storytelling is not only welcome but encouraged - shorts, plays, scenes from projects in development, present a poem as a monologue or a novel as scene work. This is designed for work to come off the shelf and to life. To truly present a series of circumstances.
A unique theme will be announced prior to each SOC event to challenge artists in a way that is both fun and engaging. Lets bring fresh, inspired pieces that speak to the moment. Once selected the each group will have ~one month to prepare the piece for the stage.
This intimate gathering is united by a love for storytelling. Think of it as a creative catalyst to experiment, collaborate, and connect.
